2019 Blind Curling Provincial Playdowns

The 2019 Blind Curling Provincials hosted by the 100 Mile House Curling Club on January 10th and 11th were a huge success. 4 teams competed – 100 Mile House, Kelowna, Prince George and Vancouver.

2 points are awarded for every end won, 10 additional points are given to the winner and 5 points for a tie.

Kelowna came in first place with 66 points. Prince George and 100 Mile both had 32 points, but Prince George beat 100 Mile by one point in their round robin game, which puts Prince George in second and 100 Mile in third. Vancouver ended the weekend in fourth place.

The first place team (Kelowna) gets to choose between going to the 2020 Nationals in Ottawa, or the Westerns in 2019. Westerns are being held in Kamloops this year. Kelowna has chosen to go to the Nationals in Ottawa. This event has run for 11 years and Kelowna has won it 8 times.

When a BC teams wins Nationals, a second BC team gets to go to the Westerns. Therefore Prince George, who placed second, has earned a spot in the Westerns, and 100 Mile House will be the second team from BC.
